This type of flame detector monitors the flame signal generated by the UV radiation emitted by gas or fuel flames.
A radiation detector is a UV phototube with two electrodes that ignites when illuminated by light in the 190270 nm range of the spectrum, thereby initiating the current in the flame detector circuit. UV does not react to the burning refractory bricks, sunlight, or lighting inside the combustion chamber
